Welcome to Group 12
At San Antonio
Club 12 has been the home of sobriety in San Antonio since 1949. It was organized as a non-profit organization, first, for the specific purpose of maintaining and operating an educational society to combat the disease of alcoholism. Secondly, to provide a suitable meeting place for Group 12 of Alcoholics Anonymous and thirdly, to maintain and operate suitable meeting space for the members of Club 12.
If you are struggling with alcohol and have found your way to this page, welcome home. If drinking is no longer working for you and you would like to stop, keep reading.
The first step in getting sober is recognizing and admitting you have a problem. It’s hard to admit you are powerless over alcohol and that your life has become unmanageable. You are not alone.
Back in 1935, two men saw that alcohol had ruined their lives. They knew it would kill them if they didn’t stop drinking. They wanted to stop but they couldn't do it alone.
Their family, friends and doctors couldn't do it for them. There was no personal loss or tragedy big enough, no threat, treatment or cure strong enough to make them stop drinking. Countless and sincere promises had been made and broken over that first drink. They had been diagnosed as hopeless alcoholics.
These men met and shared their common experience with alcohol. They found they understood each other better than their families, friends and doctors did. This understanding enabled them to pass on that first drink that always paved their way to disaster. That’s how Alcoholics Anonymous was born.
Over 85 years later we are still meeting and talking daily, sharing our experience, strength and hope with each other. That’s what we do here at Club 12 over 50 times a week. On Sundays we have a special meeting at 2:30pm just for the newcomer who is just starting their sobriety journey. And if you are wondering, there are no dues or fees... we are self-supporting through our own contributions.
So, come join us and find out about this new life. A sober life.On this site you will find information about meeting times through the drop down menu.
